3.2 Figma

Figma is a collaborative design platform used primarily for user interface design and prototyping. It supports real-time collaboration, shared design libraries, and scalable design systems that allow teams to maintain consistency across components and products. Using Figma’s prototyping features, designers can build interactive flows to test how users might interact with different interface states. Beyond design and prototyping, Figma also offers FigJam, a digital whiteboard for ideation and team workshops, and Figma Slides, a presentation tool developed specifically for design teams. For developer handoff, Dev Mode provides inspection and code-ready views of design files (Figma, n.d.-a).

With over 82% market share in interface design tools, Figma has become the industry standard for UI design (UX Tools, 2024). However, its core features, while powerful, are not always tailored to the specific needs of every team or workflow. To support workflows beyond the built-in features, Figma provides a plugin system that allows developers to extend the functionality of Figma's editor.
